Tanya Rollins Shadley has been immersed in the performing arts since the age of five. At just eight years old, she landed her first role in the production Black Girl at Norfolk State University, performing with the NSU Players under the direction of her mentor, DeShera "Sunshine" Rainey. She later continued developing her craft through the SEVAA Summer Arts Workshop.
In 2000, while attending Old Dominion University, Tanya captivated audiences with a one-woman performance as Billie Holiday in Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill with VJ Enterprise. Her passion for theater led her to return to SEVAA as an instructor, and she later became a Theatre Director for a local Christian school system, where she taught theater to students in grades 6-12.
Her dedication to youth development and the arts inspired her to establish the TRS Kids Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to empowering young people through performing arts education. Through this initiative, Tanya provides mentorship, training, and opportunities for youth to develop their creative talents and build confidence in their abilities.
Throughout high school, Tanya was honored to be a part of the Governor’s School for the Arts Performing Arts department. During this time, she secured a guest star role on the television series American Gothic and graduated with honors from both GSA and Maury High School.
Beyond performing, Tanya has built an impressive career in the arts, expanding her expertise to writing, directing, and stage management. In 2006, she founded TRS PRODUCTIONS: Broadway in V-A, a company dedicated to nurturing local talent and bringing high-quality entertainment to the 757 community.
